BrokerageLoop vs Odoo for insurance brokers

Odoo is a general-purpose ERP with CRM and accounting apps. BrokerageLoop is purpose-built for the insurance broker lifecycle — and pushes your invoices and payments straight into Odoo rather than trying to replace it.

Draft page — not ready to publishEvery [TODO] marker below needs a real answer from the BrokerageLoop team, and the comparison table needs re-verifying against Odoo's current modules, before this page goes live. This is not meant to disparage Odoo — it's a different tool for a different layer of the stack.

They're not solving the same problem

Odoo is a generic suite of business apps — CRM, invoicing, inventory, accounting — that can be configured for almost any industry. It doesn't ship with insurance-specific objects like a policy, an endorsement, a claim reserve, a commission split across producer/sub-broker/overrider, or an insurer statement to reconcile against. Those concepts have to be bolted on, usually through custom modules or workarounds.

BrokerageLoop starts from those objects. The register carries a case through lead, quote, bind, policy, endorsement, renewal, claim, collection, commission, reconciliation and counterparty statement, with each stage modeled the way a brokerage actually works rather than mapped onto generic CRM/sales objects.

Where they connect

The two aren't mutually exclusive. BrokerageLoop's accounting integration pushes invoices and payments to Odoo, verified against a live instance — so a brokerage already using Odoo for general-ledger accounting keeps doing that in Odoo, while BrokerageLoop handles the insurance-specific lifecycle Odoo doesn't model.

One Odoo instance, not three systems

A brokerage onboarding with BrokerageLoop gets its own Odoo database, and it is a full Odoo — not a cut-down accounting shell. As part of onboarding we set up and configure four of Odoo's HR apps against how your office runs — employee records, leave, attendance and payroll — alongside the accounting side, so your back office sits in the same instance your financials already do.

That matters for two reasons. A brokerage that would otherwise buy a separate HR product does not need one, and there is a single instance to administer rather than two. It does not mean BrokerageLoop has HR features: employees, leave and payroll are Odoo's apps, running in Odoo, and they are configured for you rather than rebuilt by us.

Payroll is the one that differs by market. Odoo ships payroll localisations for the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, so payroll in those two markets runs on Odoo's own country module. Odoo does not ship a Lebanese payroll localisation — its published list covers Australia, Belgium, Egypt, Hong Kong, India, Jordan, Kenya, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, the UAE and the United States. [TODO] state how Lebanese payroll is handled at onboarding, given there is no Odoo localisation to configure. Employee records, leave and attendance are not country-specific and are unaffected.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to give up Odoo to use BrokerageLoop?

No. BrokerageLoop's accounting integration pushes invoices and payments to Odoo, verified against a live instance, so the two work together.

Does BrokerageLoop do general-ledger accounting?

No — that's Odoo's job in this setup. BrokerageLoop is the insurance-specific register that feeds financial data into your accounting system.

Is there an Odoo module for insurance brokers already?

[TODO] This should be verified and answered honestly before publishing — including any third-party Odoo insurance modules — rather than assumed.
